Social Media Content & Community Creator — Merge Dating
Casual | Approx. 2 hours per day, Monday–Friday | $35/40/hour + super
Merge Dating is Australia's real-life alternative to dating apps — no swiping, no speed dating, just natural singles events where people actually meet.
We're growing fast across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Newcastle, regional NSW and beyond — and we're looking for someone who can help make Merge feel alive online every day.
Our marketing team already handles our regular event graphics, promotional posts and general event marketing. This role is about everything happening around that — trends, topical content, personality, community and making Merge a brand people actually want to follow.
We want someone who lives on TikTok and Instagram, knows what's happening online, is confident on camera and can turn an idea or trend into something relevant for Merge quickly.
You'll become one of the recognisable personalities behind Merge — not the face of the brand, but one of the people our audience gets to know.
What you'll actually be doing
This role is approximately 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday. The point of the daily hours is to stay across what's happening, keep our socials active and be able to move quickly when something relevant comes up.
- Creating face-to-camera content — Merge updates, dating takes, reactions and topical content
- Jumping on TikTok/Reels trends while they're still relevant
- Turning topical moments — both within Merge and the wider dating/pop culture world — into content
- Creating Stories including polls, questions, conversations and quick updates
- Shooting and editing simple short-form videos
- Creating simple content using our existing Canva templates
- Replying to comments, engaging with our community and helping build the personality around Merge
- Helping plan our weekly, monthly and upcoming content
We'll have an approval process and overall content direction, but we're looking for someone who can take ownership within that. Generally, you should already have a strong idea of what you're creating each day rather than waiting for us to tell you.
And when something topical or a great trend comes up, we want you to spot it and bring it to us.
Who we're looking for
- You're naturally creative, social and comfortable on camera
- TikTok and Instagram are genuinely part of your world
- You can shoot and edit short-form content yourself
- You understand what feels current, funny and natural online — and what feels forced or corporate
- You're proactive, organised and constantly noticing potential content
- You're comfortable taking an idea and running with it
- Nice to have: you have friends, housemates or people around you who'd occasionally be keen to jump into a trend, skit or piece of content when an idea works better with multiple people
There may also be opportunities to...
This role is primarily focused on social content, but depending on your interests and experience, there may also be opportunities to:
- Attend Merge events and capture content
- Co-host or host selected Merge events
- Get involved in larger shoots, street content and other Merge projects
These aren't requirements of the core role, but there's plenty of opportunity to get more involved with Merge.
How to apply
Along with your CV and application, please send us a short 30–60 second video introducing yourself — nothing overly polished, we just want to get a feel for your personality and how you come across on camera.
If you've created social content before, we'd also love to see links or examples of your work.
