Marketing Manager

Salary: R30 000 - R35 000 per month CTC

Sea Monster Entertainment is looking for a Marketing Manager to join our team and grow our marketing and business development function. This is a mid-level, high-autonomy role for someone who wants to drive our marketing strategy, with a particular focus on scaling demand generation across local and key international markets.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-class, highly innovative business at the leading edge of how storytelling and technology combine to drive learning outcomes and marketing impact.

You'll take ownership of our top-of-funnel marketing, brand-building, and lead-generation engine, including events, content, and team support - with real room to shape and evolve how we approach demand gen as the function matures. You'll report directly into the senior leadership team, with the scope to bring in new channels, tools, and processes as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Demand Generation and Growth

• Own our demand generation strategy to drive a consistent flow of leads into the sales funnel
• Identify and test new channels, tactics, and tools to grow lead volume and improve conversion of inbound and proactive opportunities
• Bring data and reporting rigor to demand gen performance, and use it to inform where we invest 

Strategy, Planning and Team Leadership

• Manage the annual marketing budget, and track spend against it throughout the year
• Set and drive the marketing OKRs, including demand generation targets
• Own monthly reporting
• Keep core marketing and sales collateral current and accurate
• Manage and support a junior marketing team member

Events, Awards and Speaking Opportunities

• Own the annual events and speaking strategy (local and international)
• Apply for and shape talks for conferences and association-linked events for 2027 and beyond
• Create accompanying decks for key talks and events
• Oversee and manage the annual awards strategy with execution support from the team
• Drive our participation linked to key industry associations 
• Support the planning and running of in-person and online workshop sessions as lead-generation and sales-conversion touchpoints

Blogs and Newsletters

• Author blog articles tied to research, events, and key content themes
• Define and drive Sea Monster's email/newsletter strategy through our CRM
• Support and respond to inbound press/interview requests

New Business Support

• Review, contribute to, and help copyedit team responses to RFPs and RFQs
• Contribute research and strategic insight to key client proposals

What We're Looking For:

• 3–5 years' experience in marketing, demand generation, or Business Development roles, ideally in an agency, studio, or B2B services environment
• Strong written communication skills - comfortable writing decks, proposals, blogs, and reports for varied audiences
• Confident presenting and representing a brand publicly (speaking engagements, workshops, client-facing sessions)
• A self-starter - able to set direction and to manage multiple workstreams independently
• An interest in games, interactive entertainment, or the creative/tech industry is a strong plus

Reporting and Team Structure:

This role reports directly into Sea Monster's leadership team and works closely with the wider Business Development and marketing team. As the function grows, there is a clear path for this role to develop into a more senior marketing leadership position.

Location:

This role is office-based. The successful candidate will be expected to work from our Woodstock-based office. A laptop will be provided to the successful applicant.
