Love social media? Consider yourself a feminist? Come work with us.
Everystory is looking for a Communications Assistant to help run our social media and keep our feminist voice fresh, fun and accessible. If you're 16 or older, finishing school or in your undergrad, and you're the person your friends ask about trends, editing apps or what to post, this could be for you. No formal experience needed. We care more about your ideas, your energy, commitment, and your willingness to learn.
The basics
- Role: Communications Assistant
- Where: Mostly remote. We meet in person twice a month on Monday afternoons, plus the occasional extra meeting when something big is happening.
- Hours: 20 hours a week, part-time and flexible, so you can fit it around classes or exams.
- Duration: Starting with three months, with the chance to stay on longer as the role grows.
- Pay: LKR 35,000 to 45,000 a month
What we do
Our Social Media and Communications team is how Everystory talks to the world. We make content that shares feminist ideas, resources and stories in ways that people actually want to read, watch and share. You'll work closely with our Communications Manager and the Design Manager, together with the Core Team, who will support you, give feedback and help you grow your skills.
What you'll be doing
- Helping run our social media day to day - Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and building our TikTok from the ground up.
- Making short videos and reels: coming up with ideas, filming, editing and posting.
- Writing captions and short pieces that sound like us: warm, sharp and feminist.
- Brainstorming and planning content for campaigns and projects with the team.
- Working with translators and designers to make sure content gets made and goes out on time.
- Looking at our numbers once a month (likes, views, reach) and figuring out with the team what's working and what to try next.
- Pitching in on other team projects when there's an all-hands moment.
- Making sure everything we post is respectful, inclusive, easy to understand, and true to our values. We tell people's stories with care.
Who we're looking for
You don't need to tick every box. We'd love to hear from you if you:
- Know your way around social media and keep up with what's trending (bonus points if you've grown an account or made content before).
- Are interested in feminism, gender, or social justice, whether you've studied it or just care about it.
- Are creative and full of ideas.
- Are organised, can juggle a few tasks at once, and hit your deadlines.
- Can explain ideas clearly and simply in English, AND Sinhala or Tamil. A basic level of fluency in spoken Sinhala or Tamil is a requirement.
- Speak up when you're stuck or need help. We'd always rather you asked!
- Take initiative and responsibility for the tasks assigned to you.
- Are able to write and communicate in your own voice (this means no AI).
- Are based in Sri Lanka and eligible to work here.
How to apply
Fill out our Google Form and include:
- Your CV, with two referees who aren't related to you (a teacher, lecturer, supervisor or anyone who knows how you work).
- Something you've made: a post, video, design, piece of writing, or an account you've run. It doesn't have to be professional, just something that shows what you can do. Please do not send us AI generated material, we are more interested in seeing your creativity and voice rather than how well you prompt AI.
Deadline: 22nd October 2026
Decisions: Short-listed applicants will be called in for an informal (online) interview between 23rd-30th October. If you aren't short-listed or selected, we will let you know by email.
