Help bring the RCA’s stories to life
What does it take to connect a world-leading creative community with the world? From showcasing extraordinary talent to inspiring future students and engaging local communities, it takes creativity, collaboration and a great team behind the scenes.
The Royal College of Art is looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Communications & Marketing Assistant to join our Engagement, Brand & Marketing (EBM) team. If you enjoy variety, love working with people and want to develop your experience in communications, marketing and events, this could be the opportunity for you.
About the role
Our EBM team brings together communications, brand, marketing, student recruitment and community engagement. We share the stories of our students, staff, research and creative work, build the RCA’s reputation internationally and connect with audiences and communities.
As Communications & Marketing Assistant, you’ll provide essential coordination and project support across this busy, collaborative team, helping campaigns, events and activities run smoothly.
No two days will be the same. You could be coordinating a photography or filming shoot, supporting a student recruitment event, preparing materials for a marketing campaign, assisting with a community engagement project or helping communicate the latest creative achievements from across the College.
You’ll work with colleagues across EBM, as well as students, agencies, suppliers and external partners, gaining valuable exposure to different areas of marketing and communications.
Your responsibilities will include coordinating meetings and project schedules, supporting events and student ambassador activities, proofreading communications and marketing materials, maintaining accurate records, ordering promotional resources and assisting with purchase orders, invoices and budget monitoring. You’ll also provide flexible support as priorities evolve.
About you
You’ll be proactive, resourceful and exceptionally well organised, with excellent attention to detail and a positive, can-do attitude. You’ll be comfortable managing competing priorities, working to deadlines and adapting to changing needs.
You’ll bring strong written and verbal communication skills, experience supporting events, projects or activities, and confidence using digital tools such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace. You’ll understand the importance of accessible and inclusive communications and enjoy working collaboratively with a wide range of people.
Experience in higher education, the arts, design or the cultural sector would be an advantage, alongside an interest in contemporary art, design and innovation. Above all, we’re looking for someone enthusiastic, curious and keen to learn.
Why join the RCA?
This is an exciting opportunity to build your experience across communications, marketing, student recruitment, events and community engagement within an internationally renowned creative institution. You’ll contribute to projects that connect people with the RCA’s work and help shape how we engage with our audiences.
If you’re looking for a varied role where your organisational skills and enthusiasm can make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
