At End Youth Homelessness Cymru (1212449), we are driven by one clear goal: to ensure no young person in Wales is left without a safe place to call home. We are a small charity but with big ambition, and are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to be our new "Youth Voice and Communications Officer".

Closing Date: 25th September

Interviews to take place: w/c 5th October

Location: Hybrid, with an expectation of minimum two working days in the Cardiff office.

Salary: £25,950-£30,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience).

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (to include evening work where required).

Contract: Permanent

Job Description:

The Youth Voice and Communications Officer plays a vital role for EYHC. You will be responsible for leading on and coordinating our engagement with young people all over Wales, as well as being responsible for our social media and communications output.

Main Duties

  • Being the lead point of contact with young people from across Wales for EYHC. Build relationships, explain who we are and what we do and provide an overview of opportunities for engagement with EYHC. In particular, you will have responsibility for continuing to maintain and develop EYHC's Youth Board, a board made up of nine young people from across Wales.
  • Supporting Young People to engage with EYHC research projects in the form of focus groups, interviews or other means. The Youth Voice and Communications Officer will lead on the recruitment and coordination of the young people’s involvement and ensuring that the young people are in an environment in which they are relaxed and comfortable. 
  • Taking responsibility for EYHC’s use of social media, proactively planning and creating relevant and engaging content and reacting appropriately to trends and supporters, covering our Instagram, Tik-Tok and Linkedin.
  • Leading on the continuous improvement of EYHC’s website, ensuring content is kept up-to-date and taking opportunities to use the website to support the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Person Specification

Knowledge, experience and qualifications:

  • JNC Nationally Qualified (level 6) in Youth and Community Work (or recognised equivalent). Eligible for registration in the Youth Worker category with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • Experience working within an informal setting with young people aged 16-25 in a youth work context.
  • Working knowledge of the application of the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
  • A good understanding of the issues affecting young people who at are homelessness and/or at risk of potential homelessness.
  • Demonstratable experience of working or volunteering in a digital marketing or communications role. 

Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to initiate, build and maintain purposeful and supportive relationships with young people (on an individual and group basis) aged 16-25, promoting the core value of voluntary engagement
  • Ability to facilitate/deliver a range of informal enrichment opportunities for young people to gain skills, knowledge, and broaden their horizons and their aspirations for the future.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly competent with Microsoft word, Excel, Powerpoint, Canva (or similar system).
  • Basic understanding of video editing for social media content. 
  • Professional approach and attitude which includes a strong sense of professional boundaries
  • Welsh speaking skills are not essential but are highly desirable for this role.
