Summary

Are you a talented videographer with a passion for storytelling and creating content that reaches millions? Do you want to work on projects few other content creators ever get access to?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative and technically skilled videographer to join our award-winning Content & Channels team. You’ll produce compelling video, photography and digital content that helps tell the stories behind one of the world’s most recognised police services.

This is not your typical content role. One day you could be embedded with officers documenting a dawn operation, capturing exclusive behind-the-scenes footage or filming a major policing event. The next, you could be editing dramatic body worn video, producing engaging social media content, or creating documentary-style films that shine a light on the people and work behind policing in London.

From shooting and editing impactful short-form TikToks and Instagram Reels to long-form YouTube feature documentaries and major public information campaigns, you’ll create content that informs, engages and inspires audiences across a wide range of digital platforms. You’ll work with cutting-edge equipment, collaborate with senior leaders and specialist teams, and help bring complex stories to life through powerful visual storytelling.

The Met is recognised as a leader in digital communications, with a bold and innovative content strategy that engages millions of people every month. Our work is regularly viewed, shared and discussed nationally and internationally, offering a unique opportunity for ambitious creators to build an exceptional portfolio while making a real impact.

If you’re passionate about videography, photography and digital storytelling, thrive in a fast-moving environment, and want to create content that matters to Londoners, we’d love to hear from you.

Your main responsibilities

Content Production & Delivery

  • Lead the production process from concept to final delivery, including ideation, briefing, coordination, filming, editing and publishing.
  • Deliver high-quality content at pace, ensuring outputs meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Manage multiple projects and edits simultaneously, maintaining exceptional attention to detail and prioritising competing demands.
  • Regularly review and reprioritise work in response to emerging issues, operational requirements and short-notice requests.

Filming, Photography & Technical Expertise

  • Independently film and edit studio and on-location content, including interviews, pieces to camera, YouTube features, promotional films, campaign content and event coverage.
  • Shoot and edit photography, including portraits, group shots, presentations and large-scale events.
  • Select and operate professional camera, lighting and audio equipment, maintaining expert knowledge of production workflows and technical set-ups.
  • Transport and manage production equipment when working across locations and operational policing environments.

Creative Development

  • Develop compelling creative concepts and provide technical and creative recommendations for fast-paced briefs.
  • Present ideas confidently and clearly, demonstrating how creative solutions will deliver strategic outcomes.
  • Create engaging short-form social media content tailored for platforms such as Instagram,

LinkedIn and other emerging channels.

  • Design impactful visual assets and digital content that drive audience engagement.
  • Balance the production of longer-form documentary-style content with ongoing series, influencer collaborations, CCTV and Body Worn Video edits, and social-first content.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

  • Direct on-screen talent with confidence, sensitivity and clear creative vision, including senior leaders, police officers, victims of crime and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with colleagues across digital, media and communications teams to develop content and maximise its impact.
  • Actively seek, receive and incorporate feedback to continuously improve creative outputs.
  • Communicate project status, timelines and priorities clearly and confidently to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of creatives, strategists and communication professionals.

Digital & Social Media Strategy

  • Work with digital and communication colleagues to analyse content performance and audience engagement.
  • Monitor industry trends, platform developments and emerging best practice to inform creative decision-making.
  • Use performance insights to optimise content and support wider digital communications objectives.

Operational Support & Deployment

  • Support a 24/7 policing organisation by being available for occasional deployments outside standard office hours, often at short notice.
  • Attend operational activity, including raids, major incidents and nighttime policing operations when required.
  • Remain flexible and resilient during and after deployments where parameters and creative opportunities evolve and develop.
