About the Role

YoungMinds is looking for an experienced Social Media Manager to lead and transform its social media strategy. With a combined audience of more than 600,000 followers across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn, you'll play a key role in shaping how one of the UK's leading youth mental health charities connects with young people and the adults who support them.

As the organisation launches a bold new strategy, you'll have the opportunity to rethink its social channels from the ground up, creating engaging, community-led content that reaches millions of people each year. You'll lead a talented team, experiment with new ideas, and use data and audience insights to grow impact across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead YoungMinds' social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and emerging platforms.
  • Create engaging, audience-first content that makes complex and sensitive topics accessible and shareable.
  • Lead, mentor and support a team of two Social Media Officers.
  • Manage day-to-day social media operations and content planning.
  • Build and nurture online communities through proactive community management.
  • Collaborate with young people, creators and partners to co-produce authentic campaigns and stories.
  • Ensure brand consistency, tone of voice and messaging across all social channels.
  • Work closely with internal teams to deliver campaigns supporting fundraising, services, marketing and awareness.
  • Capture content from events and transform real-life stories into engaging digital content.
  • Analyse social media performance, identify trends and optimise content using audience insights.
  • Lead projects with agencies and external partners.
  • Champion innovation by testing new formats, platforms and creative approaches.
  • Ensure content reflects YoungMinds' commitment to anti-racism, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (AJEDI).

About You

You'll be an experienced social media professional with a strong strategic mindset and a passion for creating meaningful content.

You'll have:

  • Experience developing and delivering social media strategies with significant ownership.
  • Experience managing social media accounts with an audience of 100,000+ followers.
  • Excellent copywriting, storytelling and visual communication skills.
  • Experience turning complex or sensitive topics into engaging digital content.
  • Experience managing community engagement using platforms such as Sprout Social or similar.
  • Previous experience leading and mentoring a creative social media team.
  • Strong understanding of social media trends, analytics and audience insights.
  • A collaborative approach with the confidence to work across multiple teams.
  • The ability to communicate with empathy and take a trauma-informed approach when managing sensitive conversations.

Benefits

YoungMinds offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Three additional days off over Christmas and New Year.
  • Hybrid working (4–12 office days per month).
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions matched up to 5%.
  • Enhanced parental leave and statutory sick pay.
  • Health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits.
  • Ongoing training, learning and professional development opportunities.
