About the Role
YoungMinds is looking for an experienced Social Media Manager to lead and transform its social media strategy. With a combined audience of more than 600,000 followers across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn, you'll play a key role in shaping how one of the UK's leading youth mental health charities connects with young people and the adults who support them.
As the organisation launches a bold new strategy, you'll have the opportunity to rethink its social channels from the ground up, creating engaging, community-led content that reaches millions of people each year. You'll lead a talented team, experiment with new ideas, and use data and audience insights to grow impact across all platforms.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and lead YoungMinds' social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and emerging platforms.

Create engaging, audience-first content that makes complex and sensitive topics accessible and shareable.

Lead, mentor and support a team of two Social Media Officers.

Manage day-to-day social media operations and content planning.

Build and nurture online communities through proactive community management.

Collaborate with young people, creators and partners to co-produce authentic campaigns and stories.

Ensure brand consistency, tone of voice and messaging across all social channels.

Work closely with internal teams to deliver campaigns supporting fundraising, services, marketing and awareness.

Capture content from events and transform real-life stories into engaging digital content.

Analyse social media performance, identify trends and optimise content using audience insights.

Lead projects with agencies and external partners.

Champion innovation by testing new formats, platforms and creative approaches.

Ensure content reflects YoungMinds' commitment to anti-racism, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (AJEDI).
About You
You'll be an experienced social media professional with a strong strategic mindset and a passion for creating meaningful content.
You'll have:

Experience developing and delivering social media strategies with significant ownership.

Experience managing social media accounts with an audience of 100,000+ followers.

Excellent copywriting, storytelling and visual communication skills.

Experience turning complex or sensitive topics into engaging digital content.

Experience managing community engagement using platforms such as Sprout Social or similar.

Previous experience leading and mentoring a creative social media team.

Strong understanding of social media trends, analytics and audience insights.

A collaborative approach with the confidence to work across multiple teams.

The ability to communicate with empathy and take a trauma-informed approach when managing sensitive conversations.
