Senior Social Media Manager

Lead our social strategy to grow our brand, drive stem cell sign-ups and boost fundraising. Oversee daily channels, shape creative content, and use data to inspire action for patients in need.

Join our team

We are Anthony Nolan. We unite people and science – matching stem cell donors to those in need of transplants and treatments and growing our world-leading stem cell register, so everyone can find the lifesaving match they need.

Thanks to Shirley and Anthony Nolan, our register of almost a million potential donors, our cell and gene therapy research and our expertise in stem cell transplants, we currently help four patients a day in need of a transplant, giving more people another chance to live.

Driven by patients, backed by stem cell donors, and powered by science, we won’t stop until we’ve unlocked the cures, treatments and transplants that will transform the future for more patients. And together, we can reach the remarkable day where every patient who needs us can not only survive, but thrive.

If you're inspired by this vision, and feel you have the skills and experience we need to help achieve it, we'd love you to join our lifesaving team.

We are looking for a Senior Social Media Manager to join our Communications team.

Title: Senior Social Media Manager

Salary: £30,000 per annum (FTE £50,000)

Contract: Fixed-Term (13 months)

Hours: Part-time, 21hrs per week (3 days, flexible)

Location: Hybrid, with head office in Hampstead, London

It’s a hugely exciting time at Anthony Nolan. As a senior member of the Communications team, you'll provide strategic advice across the organisation, manage and develop social media expertise, and champion creative, audience-first thinking.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced social media professional who combines strategic vision with hands-on content creation, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about using digital communications to drive meaningful action and help save the lives of people with blood cancer and blood disorders.

You will:

  • Develop and implement a social media strategy and plan, to deliver content that is impactful, relevant, timely, and aligned with our wider activity.
  • Provide strategic leadership on channel development, identifying emerging opportunities and guiding the team on where to focus and invest, including supporting the Social Media Manager with a new micro/nano influencer outreach plan.
  • Ensure social media is embedded in organisational planning, working with colleagues across Engagement to align messaging, campaigns and supporter journeys.
  • Develop a social listening plan to ensure we are able to quickly spot opportunities to develop meaningful relationships and keep abreast of wider trends
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the social media function, ensuring high-quality delivery through the Social Media team.
  • Evaluate and report against the impact and ROI of Anthony Nolan’s owned channels, developing informed business cases for future focus and investment strategies.
  • Oversee paid boosting campaigns and budget management for content creation and Sprout Social.
  • Champion our social media activity in the Engagement division, and the wider organisation, providing strategic guidance and enabling teams to confidently integrate social media into their work.
  • Play a leading role in cross-organisational working groups, contributing social-led insight and helping shape strategic direction (e.g., youth engagement).
  • Use social and audience insight to inform priorities, ensuring our content and campaigns reflect the needs, motivations and behaviours of key audiences.
  • Take ownership of managing the organisation’s reputation in the social sphere, including handling crisis situations.

What’s in it for you?

  • A competitive salary
  • 27 days annual leave, pension scheme, childcare vouchers, access to counselling via a 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme
  • A stimulating work environment full of opportunities to learn and develop
  • Life Assurance of four times annual salary
  • Travel season ticket loan, Cycle to work Scheme
  • And more! (further details on our Life at Anthony Nolan page)
