The vacancy
Love creating social media content and telling stories through video? Help us share the stories that matter.
At Ashgate Hospice, there are stories all around us. Stories about the difference our care makes, the people who make it happen, and the families and communities who are part of Ashgate.
We’re looking for someone to bring these stories to life across our social media and digital marketing channels. Someone with creative ideas, an eye for engaging content and a passion for creating posts that make people stop, take notice and connect with what we do.
You’ll play a key role in planning and creating social media content, from developing ideas and scheduling posts to capturing and editing videos that will showcase life at Ashgate.
You’ll help us share what life at Ashgate is really like, giving people a better understanding of hospice care and the difference it makes to people living with a life-limiting illness and those important to them.
About the role
Ashgate Hospice is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. This means we are committed to inclusive hiring and encourage applicants from all backgrounds.
Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week worked Monday to Friday with the flexibility to work some evenings and weekends to cover events.
Key responsibilities:
Video will be a big part of your role. You’ll come up with ideas, film and edit content, and find creative ways to tell Ashgate’s stories across our social media channels, website and campaigns.
You might be filming a colleague talking about their work, capturing a fundraising event or helping someone share their experience of hospice care. Whatever the story, you’ll know how to bring it to life in a way that feels genuine and connects with the people watching.
You’ll need to be comfortable talking to different people, putting them at ease and handling sensitive stories with care. You’ll also know that good video isn't just about getting the right shots. It’s about understanding the story you want to tell and making sure it reaches the right audience.
Alongside video, you’ll look after the day-to-day running of our social media channels. That means planning and scheduling posts, creating graphics and photography, responding to comments and messages, and keeping an eye on what’s working well.
You’ll also help keep our website up to date, create written content and support email marketing. Working with colleagues across Ashgate, you’ll help turn their ideas and experiences into content that people want to read, watch and share.
For the full details, you can read the attached job description or give the recruiting manager a call on 07736 909 015 for an informal chat (it may be possible to arrange a visit to the hospice).
What you’ll bring:
First and foremost, we want someone with a flair for video storytelling and the practical skills to make great content.
You’ll have experience of filming and editing videos, ideally using Adobe Premiere Pro, and be confident creating content for different social media platforms. You’ll understand what makes people stop scrolling, how to hold their attention and how to adapt your content for different audiences.
You’ll also have experience of social media channels, creating engaging content and using performance data to understand what works.
Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys working with people. You’ll be curious, full of ideas and happy to get out and about to find stories worth sharing. You’ll be organised, able to manage different projects at once and confident working on your own initiative, while being a supportive member of the wider team.
Our stories can sometimes be personal and emotional, so you’ll need to approach people with empathy, respect and sensitivity. We want to tell stories honestly and thoughtfully, making sure people feel comfortable and their experiences are represented with care.
Experience of website content management systems, SEO, Google Analytics and email marketing would be useful, but we’re particularly interested in your creative ability, your video skills and the way you approach storytelling.
