Digital Communications Co-Ordinator

Westmeath County Council is looking for a Digital Communications Co-Ordinator to join its Corporate Services Department. The role will support the Council’s communications priorities and involve a wide range of internal and external communications activities.
About the role
The Digital Communications Co-Ordinator will work across digital communications, media relations, social media, campaigns, events and customer communications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the Council’s Communications Strategy.
- Implementing integrated communications campaigns to promote the Council.
- Developing relationships with the media and acting as a point of contact for media enquiries.
- Drafting press releases, statements, speeches, briefings and other communications materials.
- Monitoring media coverage, digital analytics and campaign performance.
- Creating engaging content across editorial copy, graphics, digital and video.
- Developing and publishing content across websites, social media, blogs and other relevant platforms.
- Creating copy, designs, infographics, advertorials and blog content.
- Proofreading publications and communications materials.
- Maintaining and developing media databases.
- Supporting the management of Council PR events.
- Coordinating and issuing regular communications.
- Evaluating communications activity and preparing progress reports.
- Supporting other duties within Corporate Communications as required.
About you
The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, experience in digital communications and the ability to create engaging visual content.
You should have:
- Experience in digital communications.
- Strong writing, editing and attention-to-detail skills.
- Knowledge of digital analytics, goal setting and reporting.
- Experience creating graphics and video content.
- Experience working with press and media relations.
- Strong campaign planning and communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively while also taking ownership of tasks.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- An innovative and creative approach to digital communications.
- Knowledge and experience of ICT systems.
A third-level qualification in Communications, Marketing or a related discipline and a minimum of two years' relevant experience in a comparable communications role are desirable but not essential.

The salary for the position is €52,761 – €63,109 per annum, including Long Service Increments.

Working arrangements
The role is office-based. Westmeath County Council reserves the right to assign employees to any premises used by the Council, depending on operational circumstances. The normal working week is 35 hours.
Location
The position may arise on a county-wide basis, with Westmeath County Council retaining the right to assign employees to any appropriate Council work location.
