Salary: £27,000 per annum
Location: Near Stoneleigh, Kenilworth, Warwickshire (hybrid, 2 days a week in the office)
Job type: 35 hours per week
Closing date: 6th November 2026
Location: Our office is based near Stoneleigh in Warwickshire, and this role will typically work from there 2 days a week with flexibility to work remotely. You’re also welcome to work in the office more frequently.

If you want a role where no two days feel quite the same, this could be a brilliant fit. You’ll use your marketing know-how and creative thinking to support a charity that makes a real difference for horses and the people who care for them.
We also offer 26 days annual leave (+ public holidays) on starting, matched pension contributions up to 5%, enhanced pay when taking leave as your family grows, income protection insurance, a health-cash plan and a wide range of wellbeing and mental health support services.
In this role, you will play a key part in engaging our key audiences, bringing BHS’ impact and benefits to life for supporters, members, volunteers and partners to build a growing and loyal community.
Job Purpose
We’re looking for a creative and passionate Content Executive to take a lead role in creating authoritative, engaging and compelling written content and publications for channels both internally and externally. You’ll take a lead role on British Horse magazine, but also support with wider communications including our website, email communications, social media, editorial publications and key fundraising, marketing and impact communications.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the planning and delivery of British Horse magazine and key publications, ensuring content is produced on time, to a high standard and aligned with organisational priorities.
- Create compelling, audience-focused content across multiple channels, including website, email, social media, reports, educational resources, fundraising materials and campaigns.
- Support the delivery of an integrated content and communications plan, helping to ensure consistent storytelling that drives engagement, advocacy, fundraising and brand objectives.
- Manage external contributors and suppliers, including freelance writers and magazine production partners, ensuring briefs, budgets, timelines and quality standards are met.

- Act as a brand and tone of voice champion, supporting colleagues with guidance, training and quality control to maintain consistency across all communications.
What you won’t be doing
- You won’t be working with a single audience, or channel. The role spans magazines, website content, email, fundraising communications, educational resources and publications across multiple audiences and areas of BHS.
- You won’t be working alone. You will be working within a supportive Brand and Integrated Communications team and collaborating closely with the wider marketing, communications and fundraising department.
- You won’t need charity or equestrian experience. Although they are both desirable.
This would be a great role if you...
- Love creating brilliant content and telling stories that make a difference, from magazines and websites to email campaigns, fundraising communications and social media.
- Enjoy balancing creativity with organisation, managing multiple projects, publications and deadlines while maintaining high editorial standards.
- Want to take ownership of a flagship publication, leading the delivery of British Horse magazine and helping shape content that engages and inspires members and supporters.
- Like working collaboratively across teams and stakeholders, bringing together subject matter experts, contributors, agencies and colleagues to create compelling content.
- Are passionate about using insight and performance data to improve communications, measuring what works and continuously refining content to drive engagement and impact.
- Enjoy being a brand champion, helping others write and communicate consistently while embedding a strong tone of voice across the organisation.
- Are curious about the equestrian world and motivated by a charity mission, with a desire to help build stronger connections between horses, riders and supporters.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, combining strategic thinking with hands-on content creation and delivery.
Other information
We’re excited that you’re thinking about applying to British Horse Society. To help you make the strongest impression, here are a few friendly tips:
- AI tools can be handy, but they don’t always hit the mark when it comes to the specific stuff we’re looking for
- We really want to hear your voice — your experiences, your skills and what makes you, well, you!
- If you lean too much on AI-generated content, your application might end up sounding a bit generic — and that could hurt your chances.
So, keep it real, keep it personal and show us what you’re all about.
