Sam’s Social Media Club is helping Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs find a Social Media Manager.

The Social Media Manager is an important role which is responsible for planning and producing powerful and compelling digital content that supports our campaigns across a range of platforms. No two days will be the same and you will be responsible for working on important issues and announcements that affect our environment and society. This hands-on role will be responsible for creating and managing digital creative content and campaigns and telling our story to online audiences.

Job description

  • Produce expert-standard social content, optimised for different channels, such as statics, videos, animations, Instagram stories, Reels and quizzes.
  • Weave digital storytelling into innovative content for owned channels as well as for external partner channels, writing storyboards for video and animation content.
  • Taking part in an incident rota as required, which may involve working outside office hours and on weekends.
  • Create incident monitoring reports using digital tools such as Brandwatch.
  • Write evaluation reports which include actionable insights for future content.

Person specification

  • Current experience of leading social media channel management, including professional tools as well as using systems to provide issue monitoring, reporting, rebuttal advice and evaluation for the business.
  • Proven experience of identifying and managing social media collaborations and partnerships
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills reflecting the need to set standards for communication and provide editorial control to ensure appropriate content, messaging, tone and consistency in all communications.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines and carry others with them under such circumstances.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments, leading on social media communications.
  • An excellent understanding of social media trends and audiences.
