Marketing PR Specialist (Temporary)

 

Hiring range: This position’s hiring range is anticipated to be $58,000 to $65,000 annually, depending on experience.

 

Manager interviews will occur weekly until the position is filled (recruiter phone screens will occur before a manager interview).

 

Position Summary: The PR Specialist is fluent in Spanish (native speaker) and responsible for strategizing, developing, and implementing a comprehensive PR communications strategy to support and drive Best Friends lifesaving work in assigned priority markets for achieving no kill by 2025.  Goals include building awareness around adoption, spay and neuter, fostering as well as increasing Best Friends brand visibility and engagement with our Spanish-language audiences.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• In collaboration with cross-functional teams, the PR Strategist will lead, strategize, and implement Spanish language PR campaigns (national, regional, and local) to increase awareness of the Best Friends brand and important community information that leads to lifesaving within Spanish-speaking communities.
• Act as spokesperson for Best Friends brand for the Spanish media.
• Attend PR weekly meetings to stay updated on current General Market pitches and determine whether they will play in Spanish-language media as well as report out Spanish-language media hits and developing stories.
• Responsible for exploring proactive press coverage and trends in the Spanish language media as well as monitoring and distributing a Spanish language media report for internal stakeholders.
• Work with our Spanish PR adviser team on Latine insights in priority markets to create new and different angles for media and marketing opportunities.
• Identify and cultivate community partnerships and relationships with influencers that drive our priority CTA’s and focus on leveraging their channels and audiences
• Recruit local volunteers where applicable to help with PR efforts.
• Translate/transcreate English pitches.
• Translate shorter copy messages as needed.

Skills and Experience:

• 3-5 yrs experience in Spanish PR
• Bilingual speaker and writer, fluent in English and Spanish
• Relationship builder and networker
• Knowledge of/and the ability to provide media training/coaching with talking points to identified Spanish spokespersons
• Ability to follow-through, from press release writing to final reporting of engagement
• Flexible and agile and ability to shift priorities when needed
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a fast pace and balance work across multiple projects simultaneously

 

Physical Requirements:

• Perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time including typing, sitting, walking, arm, and hand motion.
