Labor market communications specialist (0.8-1.0 FTE)

This is what you’re going to do
In order to continue to find new colleagues and to work on our ‘candidate journey’ for our University, we have been busy in recent months setting up and optimizing various recruitment processes and services. Now that this is clear, we are looking for a recruitment team that this position will be part of.

As a Labor Market Communication specialist you play an important role in attracting and retaining talent. You contribute to a clear positioning of Leiden University and the desired image. A dynamic role, with a lot of freedom and creativity and where you think about labor market communication issues at a tactical and strategic level. As a labor communications specialist:

  • Analyze trends and developments in the labor market to develop strategies aimed at attracting and retaining qualified personnel;
  • Are you responsible for conducting internal research into people’s perception of Leiden University as an employer;
  • You are responsible for the development of the labor market communication plan in collaboration with the Recruitment team and the Strategic Communication & Marketing Directorate and you take charge of its implementation;
  • Manage the Linkedin Career page and work on engaging content for other social media channels and job platforms;
  • Optimize the ‘working at’ website and initiate the development of recruitment campaigns, events and the development of materials that contribute to the recruitment of potential colleagues;
  • You are partly responsible for devising and implementing recruitment marketing campaigns, carry out target group analyses, draw up specific recruitment plans and work very closely with the Strategic Communications & Marketing Directorate.
  • You advise the recruitment team on labor market-related issues and make recommendations for appropriate solutions.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of recruitment efforts and collect data to prepare reports and analyses.
  • As the oldest university in the Netherlands, we are committed to our academic traditions. At the same time, we are innovative and leading in many areas of science. Our new strategic plan “Renew and connect” pays a lot of attention to the development of the organization and the people within it. The development of (personal) leadership and the promotion of an open culture play an important role in this. The HRM directorate consists of 4 teams that work on the central HR policy within Leiden University. We work with around 35 colleagues on themes in the areas of learning & development, career policy, recruitment & selection, leadership and organizational development.

This is where you will work
The Administrative Office supports the Executive Board and is responsible for the preparation of policy and the implementation of decisions. The Administrative Office maintains close relationships with faculties and expertise centers. In a number of areas such as finance, personnel, legal affairs and strategic communication, the Management Office also has a service-providing role for the entire organization. The Human Resources Directorate gives shape and content to the HRM policy within Leiden University. To this end, HR translates strategic policy, university developments and national regulations into workable policies and rules for the entire university.
The Policy, Learning & Development (L&D) and Employment Law & Employment Conditions (A&A) teams are part of the central HR Directorate. The HR Directorate, together with the decentralized and administrative teams, forms the HR Chain that moves our university and its individual employees forward!

You bring this with you

  • A completed HBO education in Marketing or Communications, HR or Business Administration;
  • Experience in a similar position;
  • Knowledge of data analysis for communication. For example, measuring the effectiveness of (social media) campaigns, website analytics and researching brand awareness;
  • You are independent, energetic and creative;
  • You take the lead, listen and advise, convince and connect;
  • You work carefully and in a structured manner;
  • You have strong communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Dutch and English language.

  • An employment contract for a period of one year with the prospect of permanent employment if performance is good. The agreement falls under the collective labor agreement for Dutch Universities.
  • A salary of a minimum of €4,332 and a maximum of €5,929 gross per month for a full-time (38 hour) appointment (scale 11).
  • Holiday allowance (8%), an end-of-year bonus (8.3%) and an attractive pension accrual with ABP.
  • Flexible working hours: as standard you have 30 days of holiday with a full-time working week of 38 hours; You can also build up extra leave by, for example, working full-time 40 hours per week and thus building up 96 extra leave hours, or by giving up 96 leave hours and working a 36-hour working week.
  • Wide choice of secondary employment conditions; For example, you can opt for a sabbatical, paid parental leave, take days off and/or use your salary within our employment conditions options model for, for example, an affordable sports subscription, bicycle scheme and there are options for childcare.
  • The work allows for partly hybrid work. The management states that they work at the university at least 2 days a week.
  • A work-from-home allowance (daily and internet allowance) and attention to good workplaces, and you will also receive a laptop and a mobile phone from the university.
