Charity and Role Overview

SNAPS, a Leeds based charity that supports children with additional needs and their families, is recruiting a Communications Manager. The position is home based (ideally someone in Yorkshire, but would be open to applications from across the UK) and 7 hours a week at flexible times so that the right candidate can work the role around their lives however ideally some of these hours would be worked within 9-5 Monday to Friday to allow the successful candidate to work effectively with the rest of the staff team. Role Description

This is a part-time homebased role for a Communications Manager.

This position is perfect for someone who knows how to tell a great story. SNAPS has a wonderful story to tell, but we need the right person to deliver our message to our current families and supporters and to reach new audiences. This role will give the successful candidate the freedom to create fun and innovative campaigns and engagement tools.

The successful candidate will manage all SNAPS communications from email newsletters to updating the website and managing our social media content and campaigns. They will develop SNAPS marketing materials and work closely with local press. Developing a network of contacts and good working relationships with the press will be key to this role to allow SNAPS to share its message with a wider audience. The Communications Manager will also develop and implement a communications strategy, respond to internal and external communication queries, and work with other departments to ensure effective communication across the charity.

The right person will be organised, have experience of using a variety of communications platforms and have an ability to make engaging content. Ideally, they will have experience of working with local press and current contacts in this area. Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Experience in managing communication activities, including social media and email marketing campaigns
  • Proven experience of working closely with press contacts to share an organisation’s communications to a wider audience is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques
  • Experience of utilising a variety of social media platforms to promote a service or organisation is advantageous.
  • Experience updating a website is desirable
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Good team player
