Sam’s Social Media Club is helping Battersea Dogs & Cats Home find a Change Communications Manager.

Launchpad is what we are calling our data strategy project, an ambitious organisation-wide programme of work that aims to transform how we collect, store and use information and data about our animals and supporters. As well as moving all of our data onto a new system we’re seeking to build the skills of our colleagues so that we’re ready to use our new systems and make best use of the information we have.

This role will work across the charity to apply specialist change communications and engagement skills to support the Launchpad project. The role holder will work alongside programme teams to understand complex business issues, the need for change and the impact on stakeholders in order to develop compelling messaging around change and develop communications and engagement strategies. The role holder will lead, co-ordinate, deliver, enable and evaluate high quality communications and engagement activity to inform, engage and support our people through change.

About us

At Battersea, we aim to never turn away a dog or cat in need of help. We give each one lots of love and expert care and get to know their characters and quirks so we can find them a new home that’s just right for them.

All the knowledge we gather in our centres helps us to improve the lives of the animals we’ll never meet, through our work with other rescue organisations and charities. We also help people make informed choices when getting a pet, we provide training and welfare advice, and we campaign for changes in the law when we see that dogs and cats or their owners deserve better.

Join us and help us be here for every dog and cat, wherever they are, for as long as they need us.

Marketing and Communications Department

Battersea’s Marketing & Communications department is responsible for communicating the breadth of the organisation’s work in an engaging and memorable way. Though our award-winning campaigns, we use our influence to affect change for dogs and cats within and beyond our gates; building Battersea’s reputation on a national and international scale. Our work involves everything from innovative integrated advertising campaigns to rehome our animals, to supporting other departments with their strategic objectives. We also manage Battersea’s online communities, offer brand guidance, deliver innovative digital activity, and manage internal communications, ensuring that staff and volunteers stay informed and engaged. The department’s ultimate goal is to raise awareness of Battersea’s work, so we can be here for more dogs and cats.

Within the Marketing & Communications department sits the Communications team. Our work involves everything from raising Battersea’s profile through the media to engaging our staff and volunteers. Our PR team lead on managing and enhancing Battersea’s reputation, responding to media requests, co-ordinating filming and media interviews, and ensuring that we use our voice effectively to speak out on animal welfare issues. The internal communications team support Battersea’s organisational goals by providing the channels and expertise to empower colleagues to effectively carry out their work, communicate, collaborate and share their own stories and lived experiences. We raise awareness, build understanding, promote inclusivity, and help our people play their part in achieving our mission to help more dogs and cats.

What we can offer you

Support for your professional and career development, including access to digital and in-person training programmes, a wide range of tools and resources, leadership and management training, mentoring and much more.

Hybrid working policy

We operate a hybrid working model, with our office-based staff splitting their time between site based and home working. We believe this enables our office-based staff to maintain the benefits of home working, while allowing for collaboration and interaction with our animal-facing staff and maintaining a connection to our cause. As such, you’ll be expected to work in our Battersea office for at least 50% of your working week.

Equality, diversity and inclusion at Battersea

At Battersea, we are committed to providing equality of opportunity, and developing and supporting a diverse workforce and inclusive culture in all aspects of our organisation. We aim to ensure that this pledge, reinforced by our values, is embedded in our day-to-day working practices and our work together.

By hearing from and valuing different experiences, perspectives and contributions, we know we can provide the best expert care for every dog and cat who needs us. We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities and from members of minority ethnic communities, who we know are currently under-represented at Battersea.

As a Disability Confident Committed employer, we’re happy to discuss any support or personalisation you may need during your application and/or interview process as part of our workplace adjustments. Please contact [email protected].
