About this opportunity
The NACC has an Assistant Director, Media and Communications position available for immediate filling in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney.  A merit list will be established to fill vacancies arising in the next 18 months.

We currently have offices in Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, and are in the process of securing an office in Perth.

Successful applicants in Perth will need to work remotely until our new offices are open at which time, they will be expected to attend the office on a regular basis.

About the Role
The position of Assistant Director Media and Communications reports to the Director Media and Communications and will lead a small team to deliver high quality media and communications services that support the work of NACC.

The successful candidate will work under broad direction of the Director Media and Communications.

Duties
In accordance with the Executive Level 1 Work Level Standards, you will:

  • Oversee the Commission’s media and communications services, ensuring appropriate engagement and collaboration occurs with key stakeholders.
  • Lead the production and implementation of a range of communications and social media products, projects and campaigns to deliver specific stakeholder and business outcomes.
  • Support an effective and professional media function to ensure appropriate media monitoring and timely responses to media enquiries.
  • Contribute to defining, planning and scheduling work of the team and respond flexibly to changing requirements.
  • Ensure the high quality and consistency of agency publications, including reviewing for accessibility, alignment with government style and agency brand.
  • Manage a small team including setting performance expectations and delivery of work.

The NACC is a small agency. In addition to these activities, from time to time you may be asked to undertake tasks that are outside your usual span of duties but that are within the range of your capabilities.

Eligibility
Employment with the NACC is subject to the following conditions:

  • Citizenship – applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Security clearance – this is a Designated Security Assessment Position. The occupant of this position will be required to undergo and maintain a security clearance to Baseline.
  • Suitability assessment – the NACC must be satisfied that successful applicants are of suitable character. They must undergo a rigorous pre-employment suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but is not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, police and financial checks.
  • Probation – a probation period will apply to a new ongoing engagement in the Australian Public Service.
