Marketing and Communications also collaborates with resources on and off campus to provide the best possible support to foster Mount Royal’s reputation and image as a premier Canadian undergraduate institution. About the Role

The Digital Media Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Marketing and Partnerships within Cougars Athletics and Recreation (CAR), and is responsible for the Cougars Athletics and Recreation digital presence. Through their work, the Digital Media Coordinator will strengthen the Cougars brand, supporting day-to-day operations and engaging our customers and fans in department programs and events. This role is responsible for developing and implementing department social guidelines, university policy and overseeing all department and team social channels.Marketing and Communications also collaborates with resources on and off campus to provide the best possible support to foster Mount Royal’s reputation and image as a premier Canadian undergraduate institution.

 

 

Responsibilities

Social Media Marketing and Communications

  • Responsible for creating, implementing and assessing a social media plan that communicates effectively with customers to increase engagement and revenue
  • Responsible for researching and evaluating new and emerging social media, digital communication and mobile technology resources to align with long-term strategic plans
  • Ensure all varsity athletics news, events and game scores are updated on social channels in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with CAR internal stakeholders to ensure social media support is in place for department campaigns, events and day-to-day operations
  • Collaborate with the Mount Royal University Social Media Strategist to ensure plans for promotion of department and University initiatives are in place
  • Work with CAR stakeholders to set marketing and communications goals that can be measured using social media, and use social media reports and data to adapt marketing, communication and business operations
  • Respond to customer inquiries on brand and in a timely manner
  • Oversee necessary photo and video shoots to support social media campaigns
  • Identify students, faculty, staff and community members who are champions of CAR as well as social influencers and develop a program to increase their engagement and support
  • Collaborate with the Engagement and Events Coordinator on the ambassador program to increase student engagement through social platforms
  • Conduct daily monitoring of social networking channels
  • Use social networking strategies to increase the CAR brand reach and profile in the community
  • Implement measurement tools for all social media initiatives, using data to measure overall communications and review specific campaigns for return on investment
  • Support sponsorship activation on social media accounts
    Oversee the CAR google business presence, responding to inquiries, ensuring information is up to date
    Responsible for content planning, uploading and strategy for the digital scoreboard

Social Media Monitoring and Guidelines

  • Develop and oversee implementation of the Cougars Athletics and Recreation Social Networking Guidelines and Procedures
  • Ensure all CAR social channels follow the Mount Royal University Social Networking Guidelines and Procedures
  • Oversee and provide ongoing direction and training to CAR varsity team social media administrators to ensure adherence to best practices, brand, University Social Networking Policy, Guidelines and Procedures, along with crisis communication protocols
  • Use social media measurement software to identify, and monitor potential issues

Content Creation

  • Develop and create graphic materials for use on digital platforms through use of design programs including Adobe Suite and Canva.
  • Ensure all graphic materials are created in line with CAR and University brand guidelines

Department, divisional and institutional support

  • Ensure the CAR social media plan supports prioritized department strategies for increased customer engagement and revenue generation
  • Promote a shared vision that drives departmental, divisional, and institutional short-term and long-term planning and the ongoing organizational work.
  • Support the development of innovative collaborative partnerships to advance the departmental, divisional and institutional reach
  • Support department wide impact programs to build community and engagement opportunities
  • Advance and serve on department and institutional committees
  • Collaborate with department, institutional and community partners to cultivate opportunities to enhance the CAR and Mount Royal brands.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, public relations or related area.
  • Minimum three years (3) full time professional experience in a marketing and/or communications
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated innovation, creativity and informed risk-taking.
  • Knowledge of athletics and recreation industries and trends
  • Demonstrated ability to lead as well as adapt to changing priorities, situations and demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with creation and implementation of digital marketing and communication plans
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize social media best practices and market research to enhance marketing and communications campaigns
  • Knowledge and experience with the effective use of digital marketing mediums
  • Demonstrated commitment to and appreciation of diversity and cultural competency
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and work as a member of the team
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Experience working working with design programs such as Adobe Suite and Canva

 

 

Salary: $60,571 – $76,640 per annum
