TU/e is an innovative university, where groundbreaking research is conducted in the areas of sustainability, health and artificial intelligence. In our education, which is bundled in a Bachelor College and a Graduate School, students from home and abroad build specialist knowledge, but they also learn the skills needed in the business world. The research at our university is of high quality and combines scientific curiosity with a hands-on mentality. An ambitious university therefore requires an ambitious communications department. The Communication Expertise Center (CEC) of TU/e ​​is responsible for the communication policy and supports the faculties and services. We are working on greater brand awareness, a stronger identity and image in order to put our research even more firmly on the international map. And also to further grow the number of students.

In the CEC department, colleagues work on recruiting students, disseminating research results, building the brand and supporting these processes. The colleague we are looking for falls under Communication Technology but works for the entire university.

You build the bridge between our organization and the many target groups outside it. You do this with courage, humor and a feeling for your audience. Sometimes in images, sometimes in text, but always based on our values ​​and vision.

Activities

  • Updating the social/online media strategy and implementing the resulting channel plans.
  • Writing, visualizing and planning posts that suit the different target groups, either via Coosto or on the social channels themselves.
  • Reviewing and improving the substantive placements made by the various departments.
  • Management of the TU/e ​​YouTube channel, including textual and visual appearance and promotion.
  • Contribute to increasing the level of knowledge/coaching regarding effective use of social media, within your own department and beyond. Both in 1-on-1 sessions and through presentations.
  • Planning schedules and coordination of students in the webcare team. Also the point of contact for this team and ensuring that customer questions are addressed to the correct counter.
  • Advising colleagues and departments on the effective use of social media for their objectives.
  • Responsible for identifying external opportunities and monitoring threats in the areas of information, research communication and reputation.
  • Concept and content creation for special occasions.
  • Campaign management of paid social and search campaigns in combination with an external partner.

As such, you provide the bridge between the inside world and the social/online outside world and serve as a feeler and source of inspiration for the various departments. Strategic, operational and creative interpretation of online issues are required, as well as a proactive attitude towards other challenges within the university’s communication.

Job requirements

For this fun, challenging and dynamic position we are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious colleague with:

  • Minimum HBO level and a healthy dose of experience in online media and communication. You also have demonstrable experience in managing marketing agencies.
  • You are also able to set up, organize and optimize campaigns yourself, including for Google Ads and social media platforms.
  • You are familiar with the relevant software/tooling, including Coosto, Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Microsoft Office 365 and Google Ads.
  • You follow the latest social trends and virals and look for innovative ways to use our social media channels more effectively.
  • You can and want to work from strategy and implementation, and you are not afraid of words such as urgent job or deadline.
  • You can organize well, inspire enthusiasm and complete matters.
  • You are project-oriented and enjoy working independently as well as in a team.
  • We are happy with someone who stands firmly in his/her shoes and who knows how to find a balance in external communication between the patience not to react immediately and proactively identifying issues and taking action.
  • You move easily through the organization, are accessible and build relationships easily.
  • You have a good eye for the visual side of communication. You are creative and come up with new ideas, daring to deviate from the beaten path.
  • You speak and write with ease in Dutch and English.
  • You have an affinity with research and education.
  • Skills in image and video editing are a plus

Conditions of employment

  • We offer a 0.8 – 1.0 FTE appointment. Depending on age and experience, the salary is a minimum of € 3,226.00 and a maximum of € 5,090 gross per month (scale 10) on a full-time basis. We offer a temporary appointment for a period of one year. If your suitability is proven, your employment contract and a good assessment will be converted into permanent employment.
  • We also offer good secondary employment conditions, including an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, holiday allowance of 8% and excellent sports facilities.
  • Depending on CV and work experience, an appointment via EUFLEX (TU/e secondment agency) is a possibility.
