Head of content is responsible for creating and publishing various types of digital content, including but not limited to social media posts, blog articles, videos, infographics, and email newsletters. TheHead of content should have a strong understanding of digital marketing and SEO principles, as well as excellent writing and editing skills. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines. The ideal candidate should be creative, detail-oriented, and have experience with content management systems and social media platforms. A degree in marketing, journalism, or a related field is preferred.

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Head of Content who will be responsible for producing and publishing various types of digital content. In this position, you will be expected to collaborate with the marketing/editorial team to develop content strategies that align with the company’s goals. You will also be responsible for creating engaging and informative content, including blog posts, social media posts, and videos. If you have a passion for storytelling and a strong understanding of digital media, we encourage you to apply.

Head of Content duties and responsibilities

•Develop, implement and manage our content and social media strategy (Defining important KPIs

  • Align content and social media strategy across the business
  • Measure the success of content and social media campaigns
  • Stay up to date with the latest best practices and technologies within the realms of digital content and social media.
  • Coach, train and mentor team members
  • Write feature/editorial content for the website, ensuring the content is SEO friendly, informative and appealing to our members
  • Monitor SEO and user engagement and suggest content optimisation
  • Monitor, analyse and respond to social media reviews
  • Communicate with industry professionals and influencers via social media to create a strong network
  • Work collaboratively within the company
  • Look for innovative ways to keep The Staff Canteen as a leader in its field

Head of Content requirements and qualifications

• Proven work experience as a Head of content or similar role

Qualification in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field

  • A qualification in journalism, communications or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in journalism for a digital platform.
  • Experience with multimedia reporting, including photography and video.

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar software

• Experience with video editing software (e.g. Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)

  • Strong communication skills with excellent writing and editing abilities.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Excellent interviewing and fact-checking skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong working knowledge of social media platforms, digital marketing tools and best practices across all channels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of media ethics and legal standards for journalism.
  • Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics, including GA4
  • Good knowledge of META ad platform and reporting
  • Ability to use, analyse and report on social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
  • CMS experience
  • Experience in writing and monitoring KPI’s within business strategies
  • Excellent multitasking, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to think outside box to generate creative and innovative ideas
  • Good time-management skills
  • Willingness to learn, take on new challenges and be proactive in pushing the company forward
  • Willingness to travel; confident in attending live events and interacting with clients and members

• Understanding of visual design principles and best practices
