WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Intern will be responsible for supporting the Caribbean marketing and communications team by contributing to several creative communications initiatives for our region through our web and social media presence. The assistant will liaise with various stakeholders, including outside partners and internal regional teams to learn about current projects and brainstorm ways to tell these stories effectively. They will work with their manager to take complex stories and break them down into simpler yet engaging messaging for various stakeholders. The assistant will contribute to the success of our social media presence as they contribute to strategy, content creation, copy, and data analytics on our various channels. The assistant will also play an important role in improving our website as they work with our team to update our regional country’s online presence.
The Intern will report to the Social Media and Digital Content Specialist

  • Conduct research to leverage relevant stories from our region.
  • Brainstorm new and effective ways to communicate on our projects.
  • Create and test new engagement strategies and content.
  • Pull and analyze data from our social channels and website.
  • Explore new channels to tell our stories.
  • Help to organize and sort creative content assets.
  • Contribute to creating new content for our social channels.
  • Contribute to the social media calendar and campaigns.
  • Write engaging copy for social media and web.
  • Keep abreast of the latest social media trends.
  • Lead on community engagement on our social channels.
  • Update web channels with new stories.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU

Do you have a passion for telling stories? Do you love nature and helping to educate others through social media? Are you inquisitive and passionate about nature conservation, writing and exploring the realm of marketing and communications? If so, we have a great opportunity at the TNC Caribbean Marketing and Communications department!

We are looking for a Creative Communications Assistant to fill a paid 10-week Summer internship. The intern can be an undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent graduate (between 2021 and 2024). This position is home-based in the United States and will provide a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and real-world work. We offer an orientation, professional networking opportunities, real-world work experience, and the ability to study with different members of our knowledgeable team to learn about different aspects of communications and marketing beyond the internship scope. The assistant can explore topics such as graphic design, media relations, and more if desired. We are excited to hear from you and see if you would be a good fit for our team.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • HS Diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program of communications, marketing, or related field, or a recent graduate with a degree in one of these or a related field (such as conservation science, marine science, etc).
  • Experience summarizing complex topics for targeted audiences
  • Experience in research, writing, and editing

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Access to a reliable internet connection
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at once
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle impromptu requests
  • Knowledge of/interest in Social Media Marketing/Digital Marketing
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Close attention to detail
  • Knowledge or passion for nature conservation
  • Coursework and/or exposure related to communications/marketing
  • Self-starter, taking initiative, and demonstrating confidence to ask questions and seek input
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Multi-lingual skills, especially Spanish, and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience
  • A good eye for attractive design and imagery
  • Knowledge of the Caribbean region and the community diversity of the area
  • Knowledge of social media and web analytics
  • Experience with basic video editing
  • Experience with TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager
  • Experience with Canva, CapCut and/or Adobe InDesign
  • Familiarity with content scheduling tools, like Hootsuite and Khoros

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

This is a full-time, remote, temporary internship position with a 10-week term of June 3 to August 9, 2024.

ELIGIBILITY

The Nature Conservancy’s Internship Program candidate should demonstrate at least one of the following:

INTERN SELECTION PROCESS

SALARY INFORMATION

The pay for a candidate selected for this position is $17/hr. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
