Do you enjoy working in cross-functional teams to bring impactful and meaningful content to life? We are looking for a brilliant content designer to join our team, designing, building and iterating services and products that span the whole of RNID. With a focus on translating and joining up user and organisational need, you will support us to deliver user-centred information and services to the 12 million people in the UK who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. 

The Role 

Our Content Designers develop content strategy and solutions for complex problems and services. You will:  

  • User Centred Content Design make complex language and processes easier to understand, presenting the right information in the right format to meet user need. Write, edit, and publish content on CMS and other platforms.  
  • User Focus formulate hypotheses to test and use insights to understand the user and their needs. Create and translate user stories into needs led content, recommending appropriate design approaches. 
  • Content Concepts & Prototyping utilise various prototyping techniques to visualise content in context. 
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management identify and engage key stakeholders, using evidence to bring the user need to life and explain decisions.  
  • Strategic Thinking contribute to content policies, strategy and the RNID content community. Use and develop content patterns and standards and bring a focus on outcomes rather than solutions. 
  • Collaboration work in partnership with multiple teams and roles across the matrix to create design the very best solutions 
  • Continuous Improvement identify opportunities for content design improvements and support development of a content lifecycle management system 
  • Content Community engage with and contribute to the cross-organisation content community 
  • Digital Perspective be responsive to changes in technology and design content that meets users need in the digital environment 

Essential criteria   

  1. Ability to plan, create and manage concise, accessible digital content based on user needs  
  2. Experience using qualitative and quantitative research to inform content design decisions  
  3. Worked in a fast paced, evolving environment using an iterative and flexible approach 
  4. Applied content standards and style guides to your work 
  5. Knowledge of accessibility best practice for digital content  
  6. Experience of WordPress or similar CMS 
  7. Comfortable using GA4, Figma, Miro and other relevant tools

You bring great interpersonal skills and are confident engaging and influencing stakeholders and subject matter experts at all levels.
