We are looking for a Content Creation & Digital Platforms Manager who feels at home in a large organization; a vibrant community of ambitious students and idiosyncratic colleagues. In short, a challenging position for a decisive professional and manager.

What are you going to do?

You manage approximately thirteen colleagues within the Content Creation & Digital Platforms department. You have a crucial role within our university, because your department brings scientific and business topics to life. The department translates the defining stories into inspiring content for the internal and external UU channels. In the role of editor-in-chief you are responsible for an effective content and channel strategy and for the quality on the UU platforms and social media.

You imagine and create. Intelligently you put the spotlight on themes that are important for the university. You do this based on a coherent content and channel strategy, in line with the university strategy. You bring innovative ideas and inspire the team with your vision. You are also aware of the latest trends in content and digital development. You are more and more you are able to organize your own information position: you get a grip on the internal news flows of this large (matrix) organization. In addition, you bring the outside world inside: media and environmental analyses know how to make you relevant internally and to bring them to action if necessary.

What are you bringing?

With this position, a manager with extensive experience in the field of corporate news provision, content creation and the online platforms of an organization fits into a complex, (international) force field. In an earlier role, you will be intensive involvedly in developing content and digital strategy and building a new department. You have experience working in a ‘newsroom’ and you know how to implement changes and new policies.

You are an experienced communication manager who connects and doing. From your professional knowledge you’ll give impetus to professionalization and through your personality you add energy. You are curious and you are open to all available knowledge, experience and drive within the university. With expertise and decisiveness you set the course and you keep the race, together with your department. You’re a builder, a staggered bed is not for you. You have ambition and you get energy from this communication function and the people to take the next level. Together with the colleagues in the management team you build on the future of the Communications Directorate. You stand – and go – for teamwork. Connection is paramount to you.

You also bring the following:

  • You have academic work and thinking level.
  • You have at least ten years of experience in communication, online and content and roles and at least three years of experience as a manager or manager within a large, complex organization.
  • You can give direction and prioritize things.
  • You feel at home in a political-administrative environment.
  • You have demonstrable experience with news, content creation and channel strategy.
  • You are a connecting and facilitating manager, with attention for your team members. You for strive for optimal consistency in the team. Based on everyone’s qualities, you forge the roles and activities into a whole. You understand the field of forces in the which the advisors go and coach them on content and impact and a ensures safe working environment.
  • You are proactive and have strategic insight. You’re not gonna be surprised. You are good at setting course, keeping course and adjusting where necessary.
  • You have some knowledge of privacy legislation/GDPR.

What do we offer?

We are sacrificing :

  • a 12-month position with a view of an employment for an in-sortio period;
  • a working week or 32 to 40 hours with a gross monthly salary of a minimum or € 6.002,- to a maximum or € 7,305,- for a full-time employment (scale 13 of the collective labour agreement Dutch Universities);
  • 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus or 8.3%;
  • a pension scheme, partly through paid parental leave and flexible employment conditions based on the collective labour agreement Dutch Universities.

The Communications Directorate is in transition and works towards the formation and implementation of the following four departments:

  • Corporate Communications: for strengthening the internal UU communities and building the reputation of the university;
  • Content creation & Digital Platforms: for internal and external news provision, thematic content and state of the art (digital) platforms;
  • Student Recruitment and Information: focused on sustainable, differentiated inflows;
  • Relationship management & U-Fonds: focused on relationship management and alumni engagement.

The support of Fundraising by the Universiteitsfonds Foundation is also housed in the management board. Just like DUB, the independent, digital university magazine for students and staff. About eighty involved professionals work at the Communication Management.
