The Government has announced plans to redefine the running of the railway. The network will be brought under a new cross industry public body, Great British Railways (GBR). Working with the Government and across the whole rail sector, the Great British Railways Transition Team (GBRTT) is now making a start on this exciting journey.

What you will be doing

The successful candidate will work across GBRTT’s key workstreams, which aim to deliver a simpler, better railway, developing and delivering consistent and effective internal and external communications and engagement plans.

They will support communications colleagues with the development of materials for key projects aligned with our communications strategy so that a broad range of stakeholders within and outside rail are effectively engaged with GBRTT’s work.

This is a Hybrid working role, giving you the flexibility to work from home of the office with occasional meetings in London Waterloo.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract, or secondment opportunity, paying £43,588-£49,037

What we need from you

  • Educated to degree level or a professional communications qualification (eg IoIC, CIPR, PRCA) or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Experience in corporate or government communications, preferably in an uncertain and fast moving environment
  • High standards of written and spoken communication
  • The confidence to work effectively with senior managers and both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong influencing skills
  • The ability to grasp, understand and promote complex and sensitive issues in a persuasive, easy to understand and sensible way
  • Ability to develop and maintain a wide network of stakeholder contacts

This role is available on a Fixed Term Contract and secondment basis for 12 months
