We are seeking a Senior Associate, Social Media to join the Random House Children’s Books Social Media Team!

 

The Senior Associate, Social Media will help craft and post highly shareable and engaging social-first content for Random House Children’s Books’ young reader and young adult verticals—@randomhousekids and @getunderlined. The ideal candidate will manage multiple projects in a well-organized and detail-oriented fashion, and have a keen interest in social media and content trends across all primary social media platforms, like Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook, X, YouTube, and more.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in steering social media content for the world’s largest children’s book publishing company, and partner with bestselling authors like Elizabeth Lim, Holly Jackson, Nicola Yoon, Karen M. McManus, and Christopher Paolini, and classic children’s brands like Magic Tree House, Dr. Seuss, Little Golden Books, and Sesame Street.

The Role:

  • Respond and engage with consumers across numerous social media platforms, ensuring brand voice and tone remains consistent and professional, and maintaining a high level of responsiveness.
  • Build relationships with consumers on and off social media, proactively engaging in outreach initiatives to grow our audience.
  • Generate concepts and copy for engaging and shareable content across numerous social media channels, and pitch real-time additions to the content calendar based on trending content
  • Support Social Media Manager, Content & Community with management of freelance photographers, videographers, and other content creation partners, helping to guide content creation, convey priorities, and steer the overall look and feel of @randomhousekids and @getunderlined’s social media presence.
  • Work with the RHCB creative team to develop designed assets for @randomhousekids and @getunderlined, ensuring assets align with social media best practices, copy is free of errors, title priorities are accurately reflected, and branding for each channel is maintained.
  • Utilize Canva templates to develop assets for @randomhousekids and @getunderlined  when real-time opportunities arise.
  • Compile, organize, and edit video clips provided by authors, illustrators, and creative partners to create engaging, short-form video assets for video-first social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
  • Develop relationships and work closely with RHCB staff members across numerous divisions, including Editorial, Marketing, Publicity, Sales, etc., responding to internal social media-related requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Work closely with Publicity and Marketing teams on event and festival social media promotion and coverage.

 

The Essentials:

  • 3-4 years social media and/or community management experience
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of social media best practices across new and existing platforms, including but not limited to, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, X, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Proficient in content creation, including photo, video, and designed assets
  • Understanding of key social media tools and measurement metrics; experience using Sprout Social is a plus
  • Strong social media copywriting skills and ability to adapt to different brand voices
  • Experience working with social media content creation tools, including Canva and mobile app video editing tools like InShot and CapCut
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize, and can work well independently and with a team
  • Proactive and exceptionally organized with sharp attention to detail and strong communication and collaboration skills
  • A love and understanding of internet culture and its ever-changing nature – from memes to trends to new social platforms

 

The salary for this position is $58,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
